Spread over the course of 10-days, this unique colour film residency will see participants delving into the medium of 16mm colour celluloid hands-on, with the outcome of making their own analogue motion-picture short films. Prior knowledge or experience with film is not required to participate in this residency.
Starting off with an overview of the medium through various workshops, the residency will cover everything from the workings of 16mm cameras, colour film stock, developing film and diy contact printing, to also exploring camera-less image-making on film. Residents are encouraged to experiment with the medium and explore various manipulations in image-making techniques. You will have the remainder of studio time to work independently on your filmic explorations, with guidance from facilitators, and the spirit of making in a creative community, amidst the beautiful scenery of Phey.
The residency will be hosted at Palay House, in Phey, the headquarters of Achi Association India in Ladakh, and will be facilitated by members of the Harkat collective.
Registration fee: INR 75000/-
The fee covers your accommodation, daily meals, facilitation, film stock and other studio materials. It does not include your travel to the residency space in Ladakh or local travel in Ladakh.
