Harkat 16mm Film Festival Harkat 16mm Film Festival

A comprehensive hands-on understanding of working with 16mm film in this 3 month course featuring workshops and masterclasses.

Working with 16mm film is a patient and precise craft. And yet, at the same time, it opens up a multitude of experimental possibilities. Handmade cinema is the best foundation for getting a good grasp on the medium of film. Whether you’re an experimental artist or a commercial maker, this course is designed to equip you with all the skills, instinct and know-how of working with film as a medium. The course is a ‘doing’ course, where you will be making a lot of work on film and Harkat will equip you with all the resources you need to do so.

The larger goal is to slowly transform Harkat into more of a community space where serious makers access the space like a community and a collective spirit energises the space. This foundation course is how you can be part of the Harkat collective. And we can’t be more excited to be mounting this in India.

The foundation course will be facilitated by makers from Harkat alongside guest lecturers from around the world with a mastery in the medium. It will consist of workshops hosted at Harkat, a visit to the Monsoon Colour Lab and online masterclasses.
